MOUNT-MOOROSI ELECTIONS WERE ORGANIZED- OBSERVERS
Local elections observers that observed the Mount Moorosi constituency No. 67 elections which were held on Saturday 24, August have shown that elections at various polling stations were well organized and prepared.

Interviewed observers representing the Christian Council of Lesotho (CCL) and Lesotho council of Non governmental Organization (LCN) said the polling stations that they visited in the areas of Ha Koali, Ha Mohlakoana, Ha Makoali and Kubung were well organized as the polling process started as scheduled at 0700 hours.

The observers said voters did not turn up in large numbers at the polling stations and some of them complained that they were not aware that voting was taking place, while others said they did not think it was necessary to vote because they are already represented by all their party leaders in parliament. The observers said the Independent Electoral commission (IEC) and other organizations have to ensure that every Mosotho understands the new electoral model, which involves parties and constituencies elections, for peace and stability of the country.

Presiding officers at various polling stations in the areas of Kubung, Qhoali, Ha Lazaro, Fika Le Mahloane and Ha Malibe said the voting process started on time and has been carried out smoothly as party agents and polling staff were working harmoniously. Interviewed people during the polling process said the election of the member of parliament for the constituency is important since it is the only process where people can be represented in Parliament.

Mount Moorosi has 37 polling stations. The constituency elections are being held due to the death of the candidate for the Christian Democratic Party who died before the general election held in May this year. At least 11, 112voters registered for the elections in Mount-Moorosi constituency and 7, 715people voted during party elections in the general election. The party elections were won by the Lesotho Congress for Democracy with 3,179 votes followed by the Basotho National Party (BNP) with 2, 536 votes.
