MINISTER TO OFFICIATE IN OPENING OF MAPETLA CLASS ROOMS

The Minister of Education Mr. Lesao Lehohla is expected to officially open the seven class rooms, a kitchen, toilets and staff offices of Mapetla Primary School at Ha Mapetla, Ha Abia in the Maseru district on December 06, 2002. The school has been built by the government to a tune of M100 000 as a response to the request by the Mapetla community.

Speaking with Lesotho News Agency (LENA) on Monday, a committee member of Mapetla Primary School Mr. Molise Mapetla said the Minister would be accompanied by the Abia constituency Member of Parliament who is also the Minister of Home Affairs Mr. Motsoahae Thabane. Mr. Mapetla said activities of the day will include performing cultural activities and traditional dances and songs. He stated that neighbouring schools and villages would also be invited to participate as the school belongs to the community of Ha Abia at large and not Ha Mapetla alone. "We want to give the neighbouring schools and villages a chance to participate on this special day as the school belongs to all of us and not Ha Mapetla alone," he remarked.

Mr. Mapetla said the Minister of Education would also present awards to 15 ex-students who obtained first class pass in standard seven and are now pursuing their studies in various schools in the country. The construction work started in March this year and ended on October 30.
