The Minister of Labour of Switzerland visits Lesotho - January, 2002 |

The Minister of Labour from Switzerland, Mr. Jean Luc Nordmann arrived in Lesotho in the morning of 08 January, 2002 and left in the afternoon of the same day for a working visit. The purpose of the visit was to meet with the Industrial Relations Council, also with the Directorate of the Dispute Prevention and Resolution (DDPR) unit, a body established by the Labour Code (Amendment Act) 2000 to prevent and resolve labour disputes efficiently and effectively in Lesotho. Minister Nordmann got informed of the progress made regarding the ILO/Swiss Project on Dispute Settlement, a project financed by the Swiss Government and that which paved way for the establishment of the DDPR. The Minister expressed his positive impression with the developments reached; he urged employers and employees to adopt and live according to the laws that have been made in order to build good working relations. Further, Minister Nordmann paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Employment and Labour of Lesotho, Sello Machakela.
