MALUTI DONATES M80, 000 FOR SUMMER CROPPING

 


At least M80, 000 will be donated by the Maluti Adventist hospital to assist different people within Mapoteng with summer cropping inputs. In an interview with Lesotho News Agency (LENA) the Maluti Adventist hospital AIDS Counsellor, Mrs. Qebile Matete, the 70 people, would be assisted with ploughing, fertilizers and seeds on an estimated area of one hector per person. Beneficiaries would be from Korotsoane, Ha Tumo, Mokhobokoane, Ha Mpeche, Ha Phats'oa, Ha Potjo, Ha Posholi, Phororong, HA Ramaema and Ha Ramochai.

Mrs. Qebile indicated that the beneficiaries would be expected to cater for the rest of the expenses such as spraying with pesticides and hoeing, while the hospital will provide market for their products Mrs Matete, said the participating villagers have been trained on measuring the fields, the amount of seeds and fertilizers to be put in for the stipulated area, adding that she hoped they would put into use the skills they have been taught for better production.

The AIDS Counsellor, said the hospital decided to engage in the summer cropping after realizing that many people are starving and could not afford to buy seeds and fertilizers and take part in the government subsidy for summer cropping.
