LESOTHO TEAM  FROM COMMONWEALTH GAMES TO ARRIVE TUESDAY
Lesotho athletes who took part in the commonwealth games in Manchester, England are expected to arrive in the country on Tuesday  night. The team, which comprises 49 athletes and officials, is bringing home a bronze medal in boxing. In an interview, the Lesotho National Olympic Committee (LNOC) Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mr. General Sentle said  the poor performance of the local team is attributable to many factors such as lack of facilities which deny athletes to display their full potential. "We need to upgrade facilities if we are determined to reach greater heights and match other countries," he stressed.

Mr. Sentle expressed dissatisfaction on refereeing saying Lesotho could have brought more than one medal from the Commonwealth games had it not been because of biased officiating, especially in boxing. He pointed out that there is a lot of raw talent in the country, which needs only to be groomed and nurtured. The local team participated in Athletics, Boxing, Table Tennis and Squash. Lesotho brought the first gold medal ever in the Commonwealth games held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1998 in the marathon.
