| LESOTHO TAKES PART AT MOZAMBIQUE CULTURAL FESTIVAL | |
|
Lesotho took part in Mozambique's cultural festival which took place in Maputo, Mozambique during the past week. In an interview, the National Theatre Coordinator, Mr. Moroka Ramaphike said the country was represented by the Marotholi Traveling theatre group, at the week long festival. Mr. Ramaphike indicated that the group had the opportunity to display the culture of Basotho at the festival through traditional attire, songs and dances and also performed a drama on anti-corruption for emphasis of the festival's theme. He said arrangements were such that Lesotho would be represented by two theatre groups: the Marotholi theatre group and the Malimo theatre group to give the festival a better recognition and to honour the invitation they had received to participate at the festival, but lack of funds refrained the other group from participating as they both had to raise funds from their own coffers to cater for their traveling expenses and accommodation. The festival is an annual event and Lesotho has been participating in the previous festivals, not only in Mozambique but also in other African countries. Mr Ramaphike said they have also invited cultural groups from the
neighbouring countries to participate at the 4th Morija Cultural Festival to
be held in the country from October 3 to 6 this year. | |
