The remains of the former South African High Commissioner to Lesotho, Mr Japhet Ndlovu will be transferred to his home village of Mbumbulu outside Durban in South Africa on Thursday 24 October, 2002.He will be buried on Saturday of the same week. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Mohlabi Tsekoa said there will be a memorial service held in honour of the deceased at the Lesotho National Convention Centre (LNCC) where representatives of the Governments of Lesotho, and South Africa as well as representatives of the Diplomatic missions in Lesotho will deliver speeches to honour this great son of Africa. As to why the deceased is buried in South Africa yet he was of late a naturalised Lesotho citizen, Mr Tsekoa said the family decided to bury him at his original village with his ancestors, adding that the government has accepted this decision. Mr.Ndlovu left South Africa for Lesotho in 1963 on political asylum Mr. Ndlovu was appointed the South African High Commissioner to Lesotho after South
Africa embraced democracy in 1994. He was re-appointed to take the
same position last year. He died at the age of 64. | |
