LESOTHO PLANNED PARENTHOOD ASSOCIATION (LPPA) WEEK TO BE MARKED

The Lesotho Planned Parenthood Association (LPPA) has identified next week (week beginning 30th September, 2002) as LPPA's week and will mark it by sensitising the public about its services and activities. The Association's Information and Communications officer, Mr. Tefo Lepheana said they would also provide freely male condoms and  pairs of sterile cloves, adding that women who wish to do pap-smear, will also do it free of charge He said many women showed great interest in this examination during LPPA's week last year.

Mr Lepheana showed that the Mafeteng, Mohale's Hoek, Mafeteng, Teya- teyaneng, Hlotse and Butha-Buthe clinics will conduct pap-smear examinations on Tuesday next week, while in Maseru, the same examination will be done on Thursday. He said Nurses in the district clinics have been asked to come and help in
Maseru as this clinic experienced a huge congestion of women who came for pap-smear last year. He said research has shown that many women die of cervix cancer, adding that it can be controlled, if discovered at an early stage.

Apart from these free services to be offered in celebration of LPPA's week, the Association has also organised cleaning campaigns to be done in Qacha's Nek, Mohale'shoek and Hlotse. This is the second year that the LPPA Week is being celebrated to sensitise the public about the services of the Association, while encouraging them those services.
