LESOTHO DISTANCE TEACHING CENTRE TO AWARD CERTIFICATES TO OUT OF SCHOOL LEARNERS
 


The Lesotho Distance Teaching Centre (LDTC) will award certificates to 151 learners at a ceremony to be held at Mohlanapeng in the Thaba-Tseka district on November 07, 2002. In an interview, the Non-formal Education Officer, Mrs. Teboho Mohapi said the awarding of certificates serves as is a continuation of the commemoration of the International Literacy day, which is celebrated every year in September.

She said the LDTC celebrates this day at different districts with different activities every year, but with the same purpose of creating awareness amongst the members of the public about the importance of learning how to read and write. Mrs. Mohapi said this year's activities will include speeches by among others, the Minister of Education, the Director of the LDTC and by the Principal Chief of Thaba-Tseka.

Mrs. Mohapi said the graduates and school children from schools in the area will perform songs and traditional dances to grace the day. The highlights for the commemoration of the International Literacy were held at Qoqolosing in the Leribe district, where 80 learners were awarded certificates.
