LDF TEAM WINS MEDALS IN WORLD GAMES

The Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) Taekwondo team which had gone to the United States of America to represent the army at the World Taekwondo Military Championships, arrived back in the country on Wednesday 30 October, 2002 with three silver medals won from the championship.

In an interview with LENA, the team's Coach, Lt. Naha Kolisang said the medals have been won by Privates Lebohang Ntsitso, Likeleli Thamae and Puleng Lala in the final games against Austria and China which obtained gold medals.Lt. Kolisang said it was tough as all the countries which participated at the tournament were well prepared and were all playing hard to win, but he said he was impressed by the performance of his players which led them to winning the medals.

Lt. Kolisang said he was also not disappointed about the other four players who did not manage to make it to the final games because they also did the best they could  to win their fights but they were just not lucky. He asserted that these players lost their games to Saudi Arabia, United States of America, China and Russia in the first rounds of the tournament.

Commenting on the organisation of the championship, the coach  said it was well organised and more improved compared to last year's. In the last World Military Taekwondo Championship, the LDF team obtained one gold and three silver medals. The team had left the country on October 17, 2002, to the games with five officials lead by the Vice President of the Lesotho Military Sports Council, Lt Col. Lets'olo Kholoane.
