The Lesotho Council of Non-governmental Organisations (LCN) in collaboration with the Transformation Resource Centre (TRC) are currently training 200 monitors to observe next month's general elections.

Speaking in an interview, the Educator of Democracy and Human Rights within the TRC, Mr Lira Theko said they are training people who will observe voting on Election Day and other political activities preceding the elections. Mr Theko said the trainees, who include members of the civil society organisations, members of teachers' trade unions and teachers of development studies, are trained on democracy and its principles, the new electoral model and the elections.

The 200 observers will observe the elections in all constituencies countrywide. Mr Theko showed that members of the civil society organisations have already monitored registration and nomination court.
