KING INAUGURATES NEW PRINCIPAL CHIEF OF MATELILE

 


King Letsie III has inaugurated chief Moholobela Seeiso Moholobela as the new Principal Chief of Matelile at the occasion that was held at Matelile in Mafeteng on Friday 11October,2002. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Minister of Local Government Dr. Ponts'o Sekatle said a chief is a servant of God who should lead the public with love and respect. She said the new Principal Chief should serve every member of the community without any discrimination, adding that the public should also support and guide Chief Moholobela since he is still young and needs support of the public. She advised him to respect the public in order that they could give him the same respect, saying he has to respect young and adults alike.

Speaking on behalf of other Principal Chiefs, the Principal Chief of Matsieng chief Seeiso Bereng Seeiso requested chief Moholobela to trust God and always pray for guidance and support. Chief Seeiso urged him to serve the community with love, respect and dedication adding that he should approach other chiefs every time he has
problems in chieftainship affairs. He said the new chief is installed at a difficult time when the world is faced with the problem of HIV/AIDS disease saying he should work hard and join the fight against the disease, which kills young people at an alarming rate.

Chief Seeiso also advised him to use the Chieftainship Act of 1968 daily for the development of the chieftainship affairs. The new Principal Chief thanked the King for the support he gave to his family especially during the death of his parents.

Chief Moholobela said he is committed to work and support the King and his government for the benefit of the nation. Chief Moholobela Seeiso Moholobela succeeds his father, the late chief Seeiso Joel Moholobela who died in March this year. He is the eldest son of the late chief Moholobela and chieftainess 'Masempe
Moholobela and he was born in 1969 at Matelile. He is not married.

Present at the occasion were the Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Lesao Lehohla, President of the Senate, Chief Sempe Lejaha, ministers, principal chiefs, members of Parliament and the public.
