KING LETSIE III ATTENDS  THE 100th ANNIVERSARY OF BA-KHAMMANGWATO

 


King Letsie 111 left the country on Friday  for Botswana to attend the 100th anniversary of the commemoration of the arrival of the Ba-Khammangoato clan in Serowe, Botswana that was  held on Saturday 21 September, 2002.

The Private Secretary to the King, Mr Mabotse Lerotholi
said the King has been invited to attend this ceremonial event by the Vice President of Botswana, Lt. General Ian Khama.

He said the Ba-Khammangwato is the largest clan in Botswana and the King
will be accompanied by a  delegation that includes, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr MohlabiTsekoa, the Minister of Tourism, Ms Lebohang Nts'inyi, the Principal Chiefs of Thaba-Bosiu and Likhoele, Chief Khoabane Letsie Theko, and Chief Lerotholi Seeiso to attend this important ceremony on Saturday.

This is the first official visit of the King Letsie 111 to Botswana since
he was installed King in October 1997, after the death of his father in 1995.Before boarding the plane for Botswana, the King inspected the military
parade. He was seen off by among others, Queen 'Masenate Karabo Mohato
Seeiso the Prime Minister, Mr. Pakalitha Mosisili, Deputy Prime Minister, the Chief Justice, ministers and senior government officials.
