INDIAN ARMY CHIEF MEETS PRIME MINISTER

 


The Prime Minister, Mr. Pakalitha Mosisili held a closed meeting with the visiting Indian army chief of staff, Major General S.K. Jamwal at the Prime Minister's office on Wednesday 25 September,2002. The Indian Army Chief Major General Jamwal's meeting with the Prime Minister marked the climax of his visit in the country.

Major General Jamwal was accompanied by the commander of the Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) Lieutenant General Makhula Mosakeng in his meeting with the Prime Minister, while the Prime Minister was accompanied by  the minister of Home Affairs Mr Tom Thabane. While in the country, Major General Jamwal learnt about the progress achieved during the ongoing training of the Lesotho Defence Force by the Indian army team. As part of achievements, he was shown a sand model room at Makoanyane barracks on Monday, which would be used to draw a plan of action for any operation without going to the actual place as a way of saving the resources such as vehicles.

He also toured Makoanyane Hospital, where members of the army demonstrated first aid activities as some of the skills that they obtained from the training. Major Anuray Sharma and Brigadier Jasbir Singh also accompanied the Indian army chief of staff in his visit in the country. The delegation arrived on Sunday and left on Wednesday. Major General Jamwal also held talks with the Minister of Home Affairs Mr. Tom Thabane at the minister's office on Wednesday, where he presented a
present to the minister.
