INTERNATIONAL PLANNED PARENTHOOD FEDERATION (IPPF) REGIONAL CHAIRPERSON AND REGIONAL DIRECTOR TO VISIT LESOTHO

 


Two officials from the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) will officially visit Lesotho on October 20. The Chief Executive Manager of  the  Lesotho Planned Parenthood Association (LPPA), Mr. Mofokeng Makhetha says the two officials are, the Regional Chairperson, Mrs. Tamaro Toure and the Regional Director Mr. Tewodros Mellesse from Nairobi, Kenya.  

Mr. Makhetha  said the purpose of their visit is to try and encourage the Government
of Lesotho to give its support to the LPPA so that this association could be able to bring services to all Basotho. He said they would also learn how LPPA operates and see what IPPF could do to help LPPA achieve all its objectives such as providing quality sexual and reproductive Health services to all Basotho.

The two officials will have meetings with the LPPA Management, the Ministers of Health and Social Welfare, Finance and Development Planning as well as Gender, Youth and Sports. They will also meet  the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and World Health Organisation (WHO) Representatives as these organisations are partners with IPPF.

The IPPF's aim is to provide leadership in sexual and reproductive health through knowledge sharing, best practice and advocacy primarily in the areas of HIV/AIDS, Family Planning, Safe Motherhood and Safe Abortion. It is also committed to building a strong and reliable network of effective and sustainable affiliates, and to working collaboratively with external partners.
