THE DATE OF THE YEAR 2002 LESOTHO GENERAL ELECTIONS ANNOUNCED |

The King of Lesotho, His Majesty
Letsie III, through Legal Notice Number 44 of 20 February, 2002, and pursuant to
Section 83 (1) and (4) of the Constitution of Lesotho and acting on the advice
of the Prime Minister of Lesotho, has proclaimed that the fifth Parliament of
Lesotho shall stand dissolved on 25 February, 2002. Pursuant to Section 48 (1) and (2) of the National Assembly Elections Act of 1992, the Council of State met on Monday, 25 February 2002, to advise the King on the date of the forthcoming Lesotho general elections. Following the considered advice of the Council of State, it has therefore, pleased the King to proclaim 25 May, 2002 as polling day. |
