DANCE AND CYCLING TO REGISTER WITH LESOTHO SPORTS COUNCIL   (LSC)
The Lesotho Cycling Association (LCA) and Lesotho Dance Sports Association (LDSA) have applied to register with Lesotho Sports Council (LSC) as affiliates.
In an interview, the LSC Administrative Secretary Mr. Motebang Mofo told
Lesotho News Agency (LENA) that the two associations' applications are still under scrutiny by members of the council to verify if there is no duplication.

Mr. Mofo said some associations due to internal conflicts break away and form new associations, adding that in order to avoid this situation, the council has to make sure that there is no duplication of associations. "The council, before registering any association,  demands a constitution and executive committee as well as at least three clubs affiliating themselves with the intended association," he emphasized. He pointed out that no individual associations could be registered with the council as that is against the law.

Mr. Mofo stated that associations stand a chance of being recognized internationally if they are affiliated with the Council, adding that such associations could also get financial assistance from the government. The Administrative Secretary noted that the Lesotho Equestrian Association (LEA) is on the pipeline of being formed, saying as it is an Olympic sport, it could also attract sponsors from overseas. LSC has 23 associations registered with it.

Meanwhile, the council is on the verge of being phased out and be replaced by the Sports Commission to comply with the sports bill, which has been passed by parliament in 2001.
