DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER TO ATTEND SADC SUMMIT IN LUANDA

 


The Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Lesao Lehohla will lead Lesotho's delegation to the Southern African Development Community (SADC) heads of State and government summit to be held in Luanda, Angola from October 02 to 03. The SADC heads of State and government summit will be preceded by the Council of Ministers meeting from Monday to Tuesday next week and that of the Standing Committee which starts on Friday to Sunday this week.

According to the Programme of events, the summit will elect the Chairperson of the Organ on Politics, Defence and Security, review progress on the implementation of the restructuring of the SADC institutions and review the status of ratification and accession to protocols. The summit, according to the programme, will also review the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD).

At the Council of Ministers' meeting, Lesotho will be represented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Mohlabi Tsekoa, the Minister of Tourism, Ms Lebohang Nts'inyi, and the Minister of Natural Resources, Mr Monyane Moleleki.

The Lesotho delegation to meeting of senior officials, which will be held from Friday to Sunday comprises of the Deputy Principal Secretary for Development Planning, Mrs. Moliehi Matabane, Deputy Principal Secretary for Tourism, Mr Lenono Mosoeunyane, Principal Secretaries for Natural Resources and Foreign Affairs, Mr. Bataung Leleka and Mr. Motlatsi Ramafole and Lesotho's High Commissioner to South Africa, Mr. Mosuoe Moteane.

The summit ends on Thursday and Lesotho's delegation is expected to return
back home on Friday.
