DISASTER MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY (DMA) DISTRIBUTES MAIZE MEAL FOR THE NEEDY 
 


The Disaster Management Authority (DMA) has on Tuesday 30th April, distributed a total of 500 bags of 50 kg unsifted maize meal per district for the benefit of the needy, as a measure to kick start the programme of the Prime Minister's call for emergency appeal to poverty disaster in Lesotho.


According to DMA's Information Officer Mr. Theko Majara, the members of the community who qualify to receive the donations, will each get hold of the 50kg of maize meal along with 5kg of Bindo beans at selected distribution places. He pointed out that the maize meal and beans are meant to be food aids for the needy, adding that beneficiaries will range from the needy and  aged people to orphans.



He concluded by noting that the maize meal has been produced by the Lesotho Flour Mills in Maseru and Lesotho milling company in Maputsoe following the government's subsidy in order for the nation to afford the purchase of maize meal in Lesotho.


Meanwhile, the Prime Minister Mr. Pakalitha Mosisili recently called for emergency appeal over the state of poverty in Lesotho, of which the Government invested M23 million to solve prevailing circumstances of famine in the country.
