The District Disaster Management Office in Quthing started distributing food donations to various distribution points in the district from Tuesday this week. The District Disaster Management Officer, Mrs. 'Mats'itso Motemekoane, said the distribution would be carried out at Paballong, Alywaln'Skop and Tele. "The food distribution at village level would be carried out by the village disaster management teams as soon as the food arrives", she added. Mrs. Motemekoane said, the food would be distributed to 9,100 households throughout the district, adding that the households would be divided into four categories, which are orphans, child-headed households, the disabled and the aged. She pointed out that a family of more than four people will be allocated 50 kilograms of maize meal and five kilograms of beans, while a family of less than four would receive 25 kilograms of maize meal and 2,5 kilograms of beans for a period of 12 months. Meanwhile, preparations for distribution of food to more than 6,000 households for the unemployed are in the pipeline, and other members of the community will receive food after being engaged in different development projects of their choice for a period of 10 days.
