CONSTRUCTION COMPANY HANDS OVER KEYS TO THE POLICE

 

The keys to the modernly built Muela Police Post were handed over to the Commissioner of Police on Friday 13 September, 2002  at the Police post by the Sigma Construction Representative. The newly built police post consist of interviewing rooms, modern cells which have toilets and showers with running water systems and many of the police departments will have their own separate rooms and accommodation for the police who will work at the post and stables and kraals for the stolen animals.

When handing over the keys on behalf of Lesotho Highlands Development
Authority (LHDA), Mr. Liphapang Motsomi said they are happy that the
construction phase was over and now the police are left with using it to help the communities around it. Mr. Motsomi wished the police who will work at the post all the luck as the place has some facilities that will help in making their work easier.

Commissioner Jonas Malewa of Lesotho Police Service said he is happy that such a modern building is handed over to the police. Commissioner Malewa said they would see to it that it is kept in the state it is in now as cleanliness in the police service is not negotiated but is a matter must to ensure protection of the facilities that are found at the police post. He said the houses for the police have been decreased in number and this means the number of the police who will come here would also decrease but they appreciate.

The Muela Police post will serve in providing security for the Muela Hydro-power Station and the Muela dam and to assist people who had to be
served by Qalo police who were far them. The Muela police post has increased the number of police posts in Botha-Bothe from six to seven as they are Kao, Mononts'a, Qholaqhoe, Hendrike ,Qalo and Border post.
