COMMANDER URGES OFFICERS TO PUT SKILLS IN GOOD USE
 
The Commander of the Lesotho Defence Force (LDF), Lt  Gen. Makhula Mosakeng urged members of the force, who attended a course on computer cadre to put the knowledge they acquired at the course in good use to improve the efficiency of their work in the maintenance of peace and stability in the country. Lt Gen. Mosakeng was officially closing the course at the ceremony held at  Makoanyane barracks on Monday. He appealed to them to share their new found skills in information technology with their colleques to enhance the efficiency of their  respective departments within the army.

The commander expressed great admiration of work done by the Indian  Training Team (IATT) in conducting the course, which he said was a real eye opener to those who attended it. Speaking at the same occasion, the head of the IATT, Brigadier Jasbir Singh, said the completion of the course was a great step forward in the computerisation of the LDF. He said, he was impressed to realise that the training they provided made a valuable contribution in introducing and developing computer literacy among the members of the Lesotho army. Brigadier Singh encouraged the students to form a computer club where they will be able to share ideas and knowledge about computers to further advance their computer literacy.

He promised that in future they will make sure that computer courses are included in every training that the LDF would conduct to ensure that every member of the army gets basic knowledge about computers. One of the trainee of the course, Major Joseph Mateka, said through the training they were able interpret what was "Greek" to them before attending the course. He said, the knowledge they attained at the training would help them to improve their work in the army. He thanked the IATT and the LDF authority for giving them the training, and asked them to bring more.

The training was attended by 13 officers from the rank of 2nd lieutenant to the rank of Major. It covered courses including Microsoft Word, Internet and Computer Hardware, Power Point and others. It had started on March 25 and
ended on Monday this week.
