| CHIEF'S INQUEST POSTPONED TO DECEMBER | |
|
The Magistrate said it would be best to give the witness enough time so that he can testify and be cross-examined without having to postpone the case. The first prosecution witness, Jacobean Metlae has finished her testimony in which she told the court that she was traveling with the deceased from B.P garage which is next to BEDCO and that they were accompanying their friends to Ha Matala. She told the court that on their way back they met a white vehicle which passed and then followed them, adding that the people in the vehicle did not talk nor stop them but only followed them. The witness further told the court that the Driver of this other vehicle stopped them when they were next to the Institute of Extra-Mural Studies and demanded to know why their Driver was driving recklessly. She went on to say that another passenger ordered the Chief to get out of the vehicle and that soon after she heard some gun shots even though she was not sure who was shooting as she hid herself, adding that she only realized that the Chief was holding a gun after he got back into the vehicle. The Chief died in March this year next to the Institute of Extra-Mural studies after there was some exchange of gunfire between him and some members of the Lesotho Police Service. 08 November,2002
