MAGISTRATE COURT MERGES LDF MEMBER IN MURDER CHARGE OF PM'S SON
 

A Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) member was remanded in police custody, after he was merged as a second accused in a Murder charge of a son of the Prime Minister, by the Magistrate Court, on Thursday 4 July, 2002.

 When remanding the suspect, Second Lieutenant 'Mole Khumalo (28), the Magistrate Mr Bafokeng Mahooana, said the suspect's freedom ceases, as he would remain in police custody, until the court could decide as to whether he is guilty or not.He however stated that the suspect is at liberty to apply for bail, if he wishes to do so.

  Khumalo who worked for the LDF branch known as the Military Intelligence, resides at Katlehong in Maseru. He, together with Lesoli Maphathe, are reported to have allegedly conspired and murdered the Prime Minister's son Maile Mosisili, near Victoria Hotel on the night of February 11, this year. The Magistrate Court would remand the two suspects again in custody, pending police investigations, on Monday (July 8,2002).

 The prosecutor who facilitated the remand session was Mr Tsietsi Hlaele. Meanwhile, a man aged 22 years of Motse- Mocha in Maseru, was remanded in police custody by the Magistrate Court on Thursday, after he was suspected of stealing a white Corolla car belonging to a Maseru resident, Mr Seabata Moeketsi, on Thursday last week. The suspect would appear in court again, on July 18.
