Cabinet directed that, the Director of Prison Services be supported with some army officers to beef up security at the Central Prison, seeing the unprecedented increase in the number of soldiers in that prison.

Establishment of an Anti-Corruption Unit

 

Cabinet directed that, the Scorpions in the Republic of South Africa also be approached for assistance with regard to the establishment of an Anti-Corruption Unit.

Tender Board Procedures

 

Cabinet directed that, the current tendering procedures be reviewed as a short-term arrangement, while a comprehensive review of the legislation is underway.

 

Cabinet further directed that, the recommendations of the report be implemented in earnest.

Measures to Combat Cross Border Stock Theft on the Mokhotlong/ Kwazulu Natal Border

 

Cabinet directed that, as a measure to address the problem of stock theft in the country, every six months, the police, assisted by the army, should raid villages, targeting known notorious thieves.

 

Cabinet further directed that, a Commission of Inquiry be established to investigate the involvement of some of the Chiefs and the Police in cases of stock theft.
