CABINET  APPROVALS: At its meeting on Tuesday 20 August, 2002 under “Memoranda”

1.                REPORT OF THE TASK FORCE ON ENHANCING THE ACCOUNTABILITY OF STATUTORY BOARDS  

Memorandum C3(2002/6)26 by the Right Honourable the Prime Minister and Minister Responsible for the Public Service.  

Cabinet approved:  

-         The adoption of the Report of the Task Force on enhancing the accountability of Statutory Boards as an official working document of the Government of Lesotho.  

2.                RATIFICATION OF THE SADC PROTOCOL ON CULTURE, INFORMATION AND SPORT  

Memorandum C3(2002/6)30 by the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs.  

Cabinet approved:  

(a)          That the Government of the Kingdom of Lesotho ratify the SADC Protocol on Culture, Information and Sport;  

(b) That the Minister of Foreign Affairs, or a person designated by him, issue an Instrument of Ratification to the said Protocol on behalf of the Government of Lesotho.

3.                NOMINATION FOR RE-ELECTION OF MR. JUSTICE W.C.M. MAQUTU TO THE INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL TRIBUNAL FOR RWANDA (ICTR)  

Memorandum C3(2002/6)32 by the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs.  

Cabinet approved:  

(a) That the Government of the Kingdom of Lesotho nominate, for re-election, Mr. Justice W.C.M. Maqutu to the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda.  

(b) That the Minister of Foreign Affairs, or the person designated by him, be authorized to effect the said nomination with the Secretary-General of the United Nations on behalf of the Lesotho Government.
