Cabinet Meeting  -  Tuesday, 07 May, 2002 under “Memoranda”: 

 
 
 1.         LIQUIDATION OF FOUR AGRICULTURAL ENTERPRISES  

Re-submitted Joint Memorandum C3(2002/5)81 by the Ministers (a) of Finance and of Development Planning and (b) of Agriculture, Cooperatives & Land Reclamation. 

            Cabinet approved

            Liquidation of Four Agricultural Enterprises, namely: 

(i)         Tšakholo Fish Farm in Mafeteng district, which has not been operational since 1994 when water source dried up; 

(ii)        Forestry Facilities – Tree Nurseries, which are located in 27 sites spread throughout the country;

 

(iii)       Basotho Pony Breeding Farm in Thaba-Tseka district, whose operations are unviable; and 

(iv)     Technical Operations Unit (TOU), which has at least one site in each district, with a huge annual deficit on its operations. 

           

2.         FORMATION OF THE ROYAL HORSE RIDING SOCIETY OF LESOTHO IN BERLIN 

Joint Memorandum C3(2002/5)84 by the Ministers (a) of Foreign Affairs and (b) of Tourism, Sports & Culture. 

            Cabinet approved:

 

(a)        the formation of the Horse Riding Society of Lesotho in Berlin; 

(b)        that, it be formally named the “Royal Horse Riding Society of Lesotho in Berlin”; 

(c)        that, the Lesotho Head of  Mission  in  Berlin (Ambassador) be its Honorary Chairperson.  

 

3.         WASTE MANAGEMENT BILL 

Memorandum C3(2002/5)85 by the Minister of Environment, Gender and Youth Affairs. 

Cabinet approved

-           the drafting of the legislation on hazardous waste management.
