PARTICIPATION IN AGRICULTURE BEST FOR POVERTY ALLEVIATION | |

Participation in agricultural activities and environmental protection could assist communities to achieve the goals of National Vision 2020. This was said by participants of a one-day workshop on development of national vision 2020, which was held in Teyateyaneng on Tuesday 03 September,2002 Participants, said that for the Berea community to achieve the goal of vision 2020, there is need to re-visit legal procedures, and apply new practices in land allocation in the district, which they said has to be practiced accordingly to avoid conflicts amongst communities, adding that assistance of farming equipment, fertilizer, and seeds from the government is needed. They indicated that this would help farmers to produce good quality food products. They pointed out that prevention of chronic illness among people, especially youth is needed as to enable them to live longer, and to participate in the country's economic development.
